České Budějovice, 1st September 2008 – One of the Czech most proverbial restaurants – the Masné krámy restaurant, has already drawn 1,000 hectolitres of beer. The largest credit in that goes to Budweiser Budvar Krausened Lager. The Masné krámy restaurant is the only place in the world where this type of beer is drawn directly from the tank. 874.2 hectolitres of it has been sold this year so far, which amounts to 87 % of the total volume. The dark lager, draught beer and alcohol-free beer from the Budweiser Budvar product range made up the rest of the beer drawn.

"Drawing 1,000 hectolitres of beer within eight moths proves that the Masné krámy restaurant has managed to take up its historical fame following last year's re-opening. Should the sales results be looked at in detail, it can be detected that our guests have drunk altogether 185,604 large and 23,992 small beers, which can be seen as creditable numbers indeed," says Budweiser Budvar Gastro department's manager Antonín Janský.

The Masné krámy restaurant draws the guests' attention not only due to its excellent beer, but also thanks to its exceptional kitchen. "That has been well confirmed by the fact that the total of 58,078 main meals, i.e. 238 meals a day on average, has been consumed in the Masné krámy restaurant this year so far. The most favoured meal has undoubtedly been the ‘Brewer's goulash' served with dumplings (two types), horseradish and onion, whose sales have reached 6,185 meals," adds the Masné krámy restaurant's manager Tomáš Olejník.

Other preferred meals sold are as follows:
Roasted pork served with two types of dumplings and sauerkraut – 3,508 meals

The original historical keg face, which used to be a part of the interior of the 1956 Masné krámy restaurant as an advertisement for Budweiser Budvar beer, was placed above the restaurant's entrance on the occasion of conquering the 1,000 hectolitre mark of the beer drawn. "Placing the historical keg face above the restaurant's entrance is of key symbolic importance. During the reconstruction, we paid attention to the historical sequence on the original Masné krámy restaurant, therefore we are pleased that this historical artefact is been back where it belongs," adds Budweiser Budvar's PR manager Petr Samec.

The Masné krámy restaurant's capacity is presently 190 places, since a 4 further tables have been added into the interior during this year as a result of the customers' interest.
